Aromatherapy Oils and Salts

It’s Saturday evening.  You have spent the day running errands, getting stuck in traffic, rushing home to cook for your family and preparing for the next day.  You have managed to keep your frustration hidden under a polite smile as you move through the routine of the evening. You have played the role of gracious host and as your home begins to settle in “normalcy,” you now have found the time to devote entirely to yourself.  Nothing sounds better than drawing a nice bath with bath salts and bubbles, and lighting a lavender candle to set your mood and atmosphere.

Aromatherapy is a form of alternative medicine that uses volatile liquid plant materials, known as essential oils, and other scented compounds from plants for the purpose of affecting a person's mood. The word "aromatherapy" was first used in the 1920’s by French chemist René Maurice Gattefossé, who devoted his life to researching the healing properties of essential oils. It has been stated that aromatherapy may produce psychological l effects. The psychological effects of aroma can be rapid, and may be relaxing or stimulating.

When you have endured a day of chaos and confusion, your mind will automatically focus itself on release, relaxation, and spirit appreciation.  You may ask, how aromatherapy can aide in your spirit awakening process.  The answer is quiet simple.  When your senses are awakened, you process the things around you differently, which causes the awareness of your surroundings and your spirit to become heightened.  Our environment often governs our moods.   Aromatherapy further engages you to become connected with your spirit by filtering relaxing components into your atmosphere causing you to ease into the state of introspection and reflection.  Upon entering this state, the scented oils, bath salts, and candles have allowed the confusion of the day to drain itself from our consciousness only to think upon the greatness of who we are, our significance in the lives of others, and the conquering spirit that permitted to defeat the obstacles of the day.

The relevant importance of aromatherapy has been noted throughout many bath and body shops as well as spa resorts.  The importance of awakening the spirit by creating an atmosphere of love, peace, and contentment has become a selling tag line for so many scented oil carriers.  The age-old debate of nature vs. nurture has made its way into the realm of relaxation.  Is it only possible to tap into your spirit man by self-reflection, or is it possible for your environment to assist?
With all of the many treatments, bath salts, massage oils, and scented oils there is no reason for any of us, to not set an atmosphere or prepare to transition our moods, to enter in a place of connection with our spirit.  With all of the many hats that we wear throughout the holiday season and all that we are to so many individuals, we owe spirit the attention and intimacy it deserves.  So draw that bath, light that candle, and fluff the inspirations of your mind as you prepare to enter into rest, recovery, and relaxation with your spirit!
